I’m a fan of sports! I think I was raised that way…
Yes, I am a triathlete at this stage in life but it hasn’t always been that way. As a kid I played every sport under the sun. I could not have imagined a life without sports as a child, teenager, college student and now triathlete!
It is with this in mind that I share this post…
Last week, I was on a business trip in Birmingham, AL. I was meeting some clients after work at a local establishment. An hour into our conversation, I was made aware that a certain NBA basketball star had found his way into the room. I didn’t think anything about (and I have never been one to gawk at pro athletes and/or movie stars.)
When I did casually turn to notice, I saw former NBA all-star and fellow Auburn grad sitting behind me. I asked my clients if they might like a photo with Sir Charles. So, as any respectable Southern gentleman would do, I got up walked over and tapped Charles on the shoulder. He turned around, I shook his hand and made the ask…
Here’s the result (and don’t ever be intimidated by a situation; AFTER ALL you never know unless you ASK!)
Awesome man! I think we get stuck in the mindset of answering for others. We assume the answer is no then get psyched out. Just make the call, or walk up and ask – don’t worry about what they might say!
That’s right Tim….no human being is unapproachable and the best ones are always willing to engage!

But it seems Memorial Day wasn’t important enough to Google.
