AID STATION: As you are probably aware of by now, food is just as important to your fitness as exercise. I hope that your taste buds have changed a bit and that you no longer crave foods of convenience. You have been disciplined enough to plan your workouts, so let me encourage you also to plan your nutrition.
I love to cook! Does that sounds crazy coming from a guy? I guess part of me desires to control everything I put in my body and when I cook it gives me that assurance. Now, I don’t always get it right and I certainly have my fair share of comfort foods. However, I can tell you that 8 years ago I could not even put a bowl of cereal together much less cook a full meal. Over the years, my skill has improved. I have learned how to prepare and make accompaniments. I have learned how to season meet and chop vegetables. The key word here is LEARN!
Sooner or later, we were going to have to address your nutrition. I thought it appropriate at this stage in your progress (after you’ve nailed your workout routine) to introduce this new idea. Today is Sunday, so perhaps you go to the grocery store and buy the items you need for the week. Go ahead and cook a couple meals and package them into single servings. The more time and effort you put into your meals this day the easier it will be to stick to your plan this week.
Remember…people do not plan to fail, BUT they also do not plan not to fail.
