Did you know that Powerbar has a mobile kitchen???
As a matter of fact I am quite certain that GU, Gatorade, Bonk Breakers and Ironman Perform do so as well. The endurance nutrition market today is GIGANTIC and these companies have positioned themselves in a way to capture the interest of would-be consumers (aka “weekend warriors” aka “age group athletes.” Due to the fact that we live in such a fast-paced world, the message that these companies are delivering must be quick and to the point, BUT ABOVE ALL ELSE…they must be palatable!
Let’s just put it this way…”don’t tell me how great your product is; NO…TASTE ME HOW “GOOD” YOUR PRODUCT IS and I will decide for myself!” Thus the creation of these mobile kitchens. Want to experience it for yourself? Just stop by your local race expo and tell me if you don’t see samples galore:
I am not going to recommend one particular product over another, but I would encourage you to taste until your heart’s content! I would also remind you that the taste you experience at the expo will not necessarily be the same you get in the middle of your race!
In general your categories of race day nutrition are sports drink, energy bars, gels, blends and gummies. Please see the various pictures of this post for a general reference, but at the very least…you need to experience what each of these categories has to offer.
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN AVERAGE RACE AND A BREAKTHROUGH PERFORMANCE IS NUTRITION, NUTRITION, NUTRITION!!!
