How do you view the world around you? As human beings we all have a tendency to place ourselves in the middle of all activity. We tend to feel more often than not that the world rotates around us. As such, for the most part we tend to make more self-focused decisions than not. This is the most basic and  fundamental flaw of perfection…an overemphasis on self.

Could you imagine for a moment accepting the fact that you are not perfect and will never be, NO MATTER WHAT? How might that change your perception of reality? This is where I want to hang out for the remainder of this post. Have you ever heard the statement: “what is, IS.” I think there is incredible truth in this very simple statement. This is not to say that you cannot improve as is the case with athletic and intellectual capacity. At the same time, it is extremely important to realize that your progress will never result in perfection.

The goal of life is not perfection. It is a journey with no destination. Pursuing perfection will end in disappointment 100% of the time. Reality is a powerful concept and we all have different ideas about what it looks like. Your reality is imperfection but you have a choice whether or not you will continue to chase your passion or not. The closer you get to you passion, the more likely you will purpose. Purpose is meant for every human being that has ever walked the face of the earth. Perfection ends in pain but purpose has the potential to allow you to live with passion. That my friends, is much more valuable than “perfection.”
