Teach an Old Dog New Tricks

Today is part 3 of a 5 Part series, “Master Your Mind.”

Are you a know-it-all (come on, be honest!) Ok, let me rephrase…how many times per week do you find yourself uttering these 3 little words “I Don’t Know?”

Are you a fixed mind-setter? Do you know everything there is to know about everything you enjoy therefore having no reason to consult anyone who may share a similar interest. We are now in week 2 of the blog series “Master Your Mind.” Last week, we discussed the importance of realistic expectations and now it is fine time we address your ability to receive instruction (some may call it coaching.) King Solomon, the smartest man who ever lived wrote in Proverbs 12:15 that “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But a wise man is he who listens to counsel.” So with that in mind, is your life setup with checks and balances surrounding you? Are you accountable to anyone other than yourself?

Experience indeed is a great teacher, but it is NOT THE ONLY TEACHER. There is only so much that one person can do alone and chalk it up to experience. No man or woman is an island and at the core of our beings we all desire interaction with other human beings. Your experience is certainly valuable, but so too is are the collective experiences of those whom you call friends. The only question is do you have the intuition and maturity to surrender your idea of “best” only in a moment to listen to a different perspective?

What would your life look like if you began to receive advice on a consistent basis. Do you have the capacity now to become the “old dog with new tricks?”
