STOP!

Patience, focus, attention….often I wonder if these virtues even exist in this day and age we live in.

How do we digest new information if we aren’t willing to listen long enough to learn?

Speaking and listening are 2 essential components of communication, but with unequal value. Imagine the conversations you’ve had in the last few days; did you learn anything new as a result? Let me ask a more compelling question on this particular matter. Do you remember any of the conversations you had in the last few days?

If you do, my guess is that you remembered what you said. Am I right, or at least remotely warm? When the rubber meets the road and we get right down to the heart of the matter, this really is a matter of focus.

Something needs to change: either we alter the delivery of information or we discipline ourselves to greater focus and concentration by listening more and speaking less.
