I love this quote by career analyst and author of Drive, Daniel Pink:

“Traditional rewards aren’t always as effective as we think.”

So with that in mind, what are some traditional motivational tactics that might not be as effective today?

For me, it was always incredibly motivating to hear my father say that he was proud of me. Also, I was extremely motivated to best my prior performance.

What about you? Have you given any thought to what really moves you? What is your proverbial “carrot?” These things are important to consider because knowing ahead of time what might positively influence your performance is only going to benefit you in the long run.
