In this “me-first” society we live, it is very easy to lose track of the world around us. We are bombarded with messages everyday that encourage us to strive, to accomplish, to charge forward. We are prompted to create better lives for ourselves no matter what our current situation may be. There is certainly nothing wrong with the notion of “better” but I ask that you consider also “at what cost.”

What I’m getting at here is the importance of relationships. No single person is an island and despite the connotation no “self-made success” was a solo journey.

So how do you shift your focus away from self (as we all naturally do) and towards OTHERS?

I’m glad you asked! This is a perfect time to introduce the next letter of “The Endurance Alphabet!”

G stands for gratitude. An attitude of gratitude is one that leads to appreciation. Today, I want you to think about all the wonderful people in your life. Pick one, write their name down and before the day is over, make the effort to recognize the impact they have made on your life.

GO!
