100 Minutes of Hell

This post is rated Olympians and Ironman.

WARNING: “this post is not for the faint at heart!”

Let’s just say that I was feeling a little “froggy.” For the past 6 weeks, much of my training in the pool, on the bike and even running has been endurance based. The first part of every season is designated for base-building.

Yesterday, I threw all traces of endurance firmly out the window! I knew I wanted to push it a bit harder but I had no idea what I was getting myself into.

What seemed like a perfectly sane spin class turned into “100 minutes of hell!” You know what’s really crazy about my workout yesterday….I loved it!

First of all, I removed the seat post from my spin bike (sitting was not even an option!) Within the first 10 minutes of class I was doing my best to keep up with the constantly changing intervals being thrown at me! One minute we were climbing, the next sprinting!

My heart felt like it was going to explode and my lungs were not too happy with me either! My legs were burning and every ounce of my being wanted to quit.

The time flew by and I was sweating like an ant under a magnifying glass on a hot summer day. I was leaking worse than a bad roof during a hurricane! As much as it hurt, I have to say it felt GREAT!

You know, I guess it’s good to relinquish control of your workouts ever now and then! A nice spin teacher Julia introduced me to my toughest workout of the year!

Guess what, now it’s your turn. GO!
